Silhouette Medical, Inc. is developing a line of minimally invasive products to treat overweight
and obese individuals. The first product to be commercialized is the patent pending nObese
device. This device is inserted into the stomach through the natural openings of the mouth and
the esophagus. Once in place, the nObese device is strategically positioned whereby one can
control the treatment effects that are applied to targeted areas within the stomach.
The nObese system consists of a number of disposable components that are provided in a
pre-sterilized kit. The system also includes a proprietary generator for creation and delivery
of energy.
The procedure is carried out in an outpatient setting under conscious sedation. The length
of the procedure will be approximately 45 minutes. However, actual treatment time is only
3-5 minutes. Upon completion, the nObese device is disconnected from the generator and
the disposable components are discarded.
The patient is then released from the procedure room and able to return to normal activities
within one day.
